Elevate Your Tone with the CTS 500K Potentiometer

Elevate your tone with the CTS 500K pot split shaft aluminum, a trusted choice among guitarists worldwide. Designed primarily for Gibson guitars like SGs, Les Pauls, Explorers, and Firebirds, this potentiometer can also be used in Fender guitars equipped with humbucker setups (HSS or HH). These audio taper pots are perfect for both tone and volume controls, ensuring you achieve the sound you desire.

Key Features

  • 500k Ohm (Ω) resistance: This is the gold standard for humbucker pickups, delivering clarity and depth.
  • ±10% Tolerance: Ensures you get the intended tone from your pot without unexpected surprises.
  • Audio Taper: Mimics human sound perception for a smooth transition across the entire range of motion.
  • Standard friction rotation: Keeps your settings secure during performances while allowing for gentle adjustments.

Physical Fit

  • Split, 24-tooth, Fine knurled, .236" (6mm) diameter shaft: This is a standard fit for US knobs; note that import knobs will not fit!
  • Short Shaft 3/8" (9.5mm) length aluminum bushing: Compatible with all control plate setups and thinner top woods like Teles, Strats, SGs, and some thinner Les Pauls. Each pot comes with hardware including two nuts, a dress washer, and a lock washer—everything you need for a secure fit!
  • Compatible Mounting Hole: Requires a 3/8" (9.5mm) diameter mounting hole.

Before Purchasing

Ensure your guitar has compatible mounting holes. If using an import guitar, you may need to drill or ream the holes wider to fit these pots. Import guitars like Epiphones, Ibanez, PRS SE models, and ESP typically have metric holes around 1/4" in diameter, while these pots require 3/8" diameter holes. Be aware that these short shaft pots are slightly taller than some 1/4" bushing 250k pots, enhancing compatibility with various guitar models. We include an extra hex nut with each pot to help you dial in the perfect height during installation.

Good Price for 4 Pots

I bought these pots to practice my soldering on, before soldering the actual pots that were on my guitar.
Since the price was so low, they make perfect soldering practice pots for me.

I have ordered a few of these but ...

It appears the quality of this product, like most others, is somewhat lessened of late. The last pot I installed into a Les Paul did not work so I had to remove it and reinstall another pot. When this occurs, how do you get refunded??? You do not. So, ....this was the first time this has happened after about 15-20 purchases so I did not make a fuss. But if this happens again, I will have to contact someone and be refunded. These pots are not cheap so installing a pot to only find out it does not work shouldn;t be happening. It's not easy changing these pots, especially in 335 type guitars and other hollow body and semi-hollow body guitars. I hope the quality stays as good as it has been for the past 20 years.

Fantastic pots!!

These pots feel amazing. They are smooth, but also firm. I hate nothing more than a pot that spins very easily, like u look at it wrong and it turns. These are not those type of pots. They were all within their +-20% tolerance, but all higher than 500k which was perfectly acceptable.
