We’re extremely proud to present our own custom CTS TAOT 500k potentiometers! These pots are specifically stamped to make it clear what resistance and taper they are without any external reference to complex manufacturer numbers or additional metering. Typically used for Gibson guitars (SGs, Les Pauls, Explorers, Firebirds), but can be used for Fender guitars with humbucker setups (HSS or HH setups). These audio taper pots are suitable for both tone and volume controls.
Key Features
- 500k Ohm (Ω) resistance - The gold standard for humbucker pickups.
- ±10% Tolerance - Ensures you get the intended tone you’re expecting from your pot.
- Audio Taper - Mimics how humans perceive sound for a smooth transition throughout the entire range of motion.
- Standard friction rotation - Ensures your settings stay put for enduring an active performance onstage or making smaller, gentler adjustments.
- Crystal Clear Stamping - Know exactly what your pot is at a glance! No need to meter or decipher complicated part numbers to know what you’re working with.
Physical Fit
- Split, 24-tooth, Fine knurled, .236" (6mm) diameter shaft - Standard fit for US knobs. Import knobs will not fit!
- Short Shaft 3/8" (9.5mm) length solid brass bushing - Will fit all control plate setups and thinner top woods (Teles, Strats, SGs, some thinner Les Pauls)
- Each pot comes with hardware - 2 nuts, a dress washer, and lock washer. Everything you need to get the perfect, secure fit!
- Compatible Mounting Hole - Requires 3/8" (9.5mm) diameter mounting hole.
Before Purchasing
- Make sure your guitar has compatible mounting holes - If you are using import guitar, you will need to drill or ream mounting holes wider to fit these pots. Import guitars (e.g., Epiphone, Ibanez, PRS SE models, ESP) typically have metric holes around 1/4" in diameter, while these pots require 3/8" diameter holes.
- Note the bushing height - These 3/8" pots are short shaft but are slightly taller than some 1/4" bushing 250k pots, which enhances their compatibility with various guitar models. We include an extra hex nut with each pot to help you dial in the perfect height during installation.
